Open Day Helpers at Oaks and District Tennis Club

Open Afternoon

It has been decided to hold an Open afternoon at the tennis club on Sunday, 3 July between 2.00 pm and 4.00 pm.   Hopefully Wimbledon fever will be prevalent.

Please come along if you have time and support your Club.

Subscriptions for 2016 Season

Please note that in order to get your discount you need to have paid your subscriptions by 30 April. We do hope you will be joining Oaks Tennis Club again.

OPEN AFTERNOON ON SATURDAY 16 APRIL 1.30 - 4.00 pm

We are holding an Open Afternoon  on Saturday 16 April from 1.30 - 4.00 pm.    Do come along if you are interested in joining the Club or have children who wish to join the Sunday morning coaching.    You will be very welcome.

Subscriptions for 2016 Season

 

Adult Members:                       £125.00 (£110.00 if paid by 30^th April 2016)

Intermediate Members:           £ 30.00  (13 to 17 years old) and full time education

Junior Members:                     £ 15.00 (5 to 12 years old)

Family Membership                 £190.00

Parent member                       £ 15.00

Social member                        £ 10

Visitors                                    £   5.00 and £3 (under 18)

 

The amount of £5 had been added to adult rates.  Fees reduce by one twelfth from 1 July until the end of the next year.

Wimbledon Ballot

The date for the ballot is Tuesday, 12th April at 7.30pm.    The Ballot would be a social occasion and members would be asked to bring and share food and drink

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

The Annual General Meeting of the Oaks and District Tennis Club is to be held on Tuesday, 9 February, 2016 in The Club House at 7.30 pm.    All Members are welcome.

The courts have been painted and are dry. Nets are up so it's time for play.

No play until 4 August earliest!

Fosse have started the repainting of the courts this morning (30 July) and hope to be finished by tomorrow evening. (31st).   

The courts will need 3/4 days to dry so will be out of use until Tuesday (4 August).   

So unfortunately there will be no play this weekend or coaching on Sunday.

COURTS

So far Fosse Contractors have been unable to carry out the work because of weather conditions. 

We will inform you as soon as there is any activity.

Court situation

Fosse Contracts postponed the date of painting the courts due to weather conditions. Situation will be assessed again Tuesday afternoon with a view to beginning on Wednesday morning.

Champions - Division 7B

Final match of the season for the Men's team was played last night, just one set was required to secure promotion, but our sights were set higher to get the four sets and be promoted as Champions.

With the match being played away at Quorn's difficult clay surface this was not going to be easy.

First three sets saw a big loss and a big win for Derek & Martin, and Steve & Rob respectively, with Colin & Andrew losing a close one playing as our third pair, at least promotion was now assured!

Second three sets saw a big loss and a big win again, but this time Colin & Andrew suffering the defeat and Derek and Martin winning! Steve and Rob also won, leaving the match as a whole squared at 3-3.

Third and final three sets saw Steve & Rob lose to their No.1 pair (who had been unbeaten all season). Colin & Andrew overcome their third pair, which gave us the league title and to put icing on the cake Derek & Martin won to secure the 5-4 win on the night.

Well done to the team last night and to Sam, Gareth & Dave, all of whom have played a part in securing the Championship title! 

Provisional dates for court cleaning and painting

Please note the courts are due to be cleaned and repainted.

Cleaning will be on 16/17 July and the painting will be starting on 27th Julyand then the courts will be out of action for 4-7 days depending on the heat.

These dates are dependent on weather conditions.

Oaks Mens team historic 9-0 win

After a hard fought 2-7 loss to a strong LFE team last Friday, Monday's home match against Carisbrooke, with a younger look team proved much more successful. Pair of the evening goes to Sam and David, who in their first match took the Carisbrooke 1st pair to a tie-break, and WON! And that was the story for the rest of the night, one win after another. A great team effort!

Hi Everyone

Well done to the Ladies who won their league match against Roundhill, at home, on Thursday evening. The result was 6-3, with 2 other sets achieving 6 games to 9.

Our next match is away against Market Bosworth on Wednesday.

Our current position in the league is 3rd.

Come on The Oaks, keep up the good work!
